A brief summary for candidates of what to bring for the course, what is available, what is expected and what is provided.

When do we Start?
Your course will start at 10.00am at the Pekelharinghaven in Medemblik. There is free parking close to the pontoon. Please call +31 628324604 or +31 615680524 on arrival. Upon stepping on the yacht, you will be introduced to your instructor and fellow crew-members. Refreshments will be available to you whilst you complete the necessary forms.

What can you take Onboard?
Besides your normal personal items and wash-bag, we advise you to take the following: sleeping bag, towel, warm- and cold weather clothing, boat shoes and/or boots, all non-slip. Sun cream, sunglasses and hat and waterproof jacket in the colder months. Please ensure all items are packed in a soft bag (no suitcases). Rather 2 small bags instead of 1 large!

We will provide pillows and fresh linen in all the cabins and all our yachts are equipped with toilets and washing facilities. To conserve our precious drinking water we will not be able to use the showers onboard. Normally we stay at different marinas overnight with all facilities. Please take some 1 euro and 50 cent coins to activate the showers.

At MOSS we have taken all precautions to guarantee your safety. Our yachts are in compliance with maritime agency requirements for seagoing vessels. Lifejackets are available for all candidates and will have to be worn at the skipper’s instructions.

MOSS cannot be held responsible for personal injury or damage to personal belongings. We advise you only to take electronic items onboard if properly protected against water ingress or impact damage. We also advise you to take out travel insurance for the duration of the course.

What is included in the Price?
At MOSS, we do not like hidden extras. All courses and cruises are inclusive of VAT, instruction, course completion certificates, and harbour fees, fuel etc. Accommodation and food on board except for one evening when we normally eat ashore. Understandably food and drink on shore will be for your own account.

“Living” on board
During the course, we will be living aboard our ship. Skipper/instructor and crew are responsible to carry out the normal household tasks. Together we will cook, wash-up and ensure we keep the ship clean. We expect from all candidates that the ship will be returned in the same condition as during first departure. While sailing or during exercises, it is not allowed to consume alcohol. Smoking is only ever allowed outside in the cockpit with permission from the instructor.

Special Requests
We do our best to make the course or cruise as enjoyable as we possibly can. For any special wishes, dietary requests or special needs please contact us upon making your booking.
